Liberating the internet--Ted Talk

In the Ted Talk that we watched, Wael Ghonim talked about the different negative elements about the internet these days.
One of the most main points he talked about are 5 critical challenges that we are facing in today's social media. The first one was that people don't know how to deal with rumors. The rumors are also bias. The second challenge is that we create our own echo chambers. Meaning we only communicate with people we like, and we block someone we don't like. The third challenge is that online discussions quickly turn into angry mobs and arguments. Wael mentioned "It's as if we forget people behind screens are real people." The fourth challenge is that it became really hard to change our opinions. We jump to conclusions, and changing your mind seems like an open invitation for criticism. The fifth conclusion, Wael talks about how "It's as if we are online to talk at each other, not with each other." We never really have deep thoughtful conversations.
Some suggestions that Wael Ghonim mentions is that if we start sharing our true opinions, people will strive to be more thoughtful. Another suggestion is that we must try to find the solution, not the problem,. Additionally, we need to rethink today's social media ecosystem and redesign its experiences to rewaes thoughtfulness and understanding.
